What to expect
Chiang Mai is home to some of the most revered elephant sanctuaries in Thailand, one being the Maesa Elephant Camp. Located in the Maesa Valley, a green, forested area with a single exploration trail, the camp is among many of the popular tourist attractions found in the vicinity. After departing from Chiang Mai proper, head straight to Maesa Elephant Camp. The camp’s mahouts (elephant trainers) and their respective elephant partners will greet you upon your arrival – a welcoming sight to behold as you will find them bathing in the river or roaming around the tropical wilderness. See more than just a glimpse of these fantastic beasts at work in their unique performances that showcase their kind and gentle nature. Believe it or not, elephants are social species and love human interaction! After spending a wonderful time with these beaus, your short journey ends with a visit to the Orchid Garden, a small yet charming paradise of flowers and butterflies. Take this photographic opportunity for that IG-worthy selfie against such a captivating backdrop! Afterward, you will head back and be dropped off to your hotel in the city.

Programs
Elephant Care 45 minutes/ Elephant Care +Bathing 1 hour
With the Elephant Care Program, you get to be close to the elephants as you learn how to prepare their special food, and have fun feeding them. The main ingredient is sticky rice. This helps give the elephant strength and increase body weight. Added to this are tamarind and ginger, both of which are
good for the digestive system. A little salt is also added, to encourage the elephant to drink more water. Brown sugar is the last ingredient, the sweetness helps to hide the sour taste of the tamarind.
During the feeding process, you have a good opportunity to take photos close-up with the elephants.
You will see the happiness of the elephants as they enjoy their time walking free.
